Aloha, Loja

Cuenca Ecuador was pretty cool yet unproductive. As fun as it was we felt there were no doors opening after some failed attempts. No biggy! On to the next one. Loja here we come.

Loja appealed to us more than Cuenca and we weren't sure why. I'm assuming it was the busy city not the much prettier women ;). We got settled and met with our contact. She invited us to go out with her that night.

So next thing we know we are walking in a club packed with people RAGING. The smell of beer smoke and spanish music filled the air. We stayed for a solid 45 mins or so and got outta there.

The next morning we were off to visit an orphanage but ended up at a senior nursing home. Here is where we met the famous Sarah Riczker. She was a singer/actress/teacher/musician. Since Cory had to change his smelly smokey shirt from the night prior, Sarah noticed his shirt he had changed into right as we were leaving. This caught our attention so we came in her room. It's funny how that worked out.

So we entered the room and the first thing she asked was "do any of you you play guitar?" Uhh yah Sarah as we all point directly at Cory. She got her caretaker to grab her old guitar which was surprisingly in good condition. She requested the old rugged cross which we didn't remeber (but luckily Dan did) so he lead the way. We also sang Jesus paid it all for her which she recognized and joined in with us. This left her with tears of joy remembering her past.

We went out and bought groceries, flowers, and a large print bible for her as a good deed. We returned and she accepted Christ and became a Christian.  We stayed with her until they kicked us out. We wanted to give her company since she doesn't have any visitors ever. We also ordered her some glasses to go with her new bible :).

Her caretaker told us of a family in need and we went with her to meet them. It was three people living in one room. Mother, Daughter, and grandson. The mother has muscular distrophy and a bad eye. We got her medicine and groceries to last a good while.

It's like the childrens book "if you give a mouse a cookie." This book explains how one thing leads to another, then another, etc. etc.

If we didn't go to the club cory wouldn't have changed his smokey shirt (he even told us before the events). If he didn't change his shirt we would've never met Sarah. If we never met Sarah we wouldn't have met her caretaker. If we never met her caretaker we wouldn't have met that needy family. If we hadn't met that family we would've missed out on two great deeds. Praise God!
